探討不同科系學生在空間能力表現的差異–以雲科大電機系與機械系學生為例

A Study of the Difference in Spatial Ability among Different Departments – Taking Department of Electrical Engineering and Department of Mechanical Engineering as Examples

摘要

  本研究利用摺紙試驗(Paper Folding Test, PFT)與3D旋轉組合方塊,進行心像旋轉(Mental Rotation, MR)能力的測試,以探討不同科系的學生在空間能力上是否存在差異。實驗中使用E-Prime 2.0為主要的量測工具,並以SPSS 12.0為資料的分析工具。其結果顯示,在整體的反應績效而言,機械系受試者較電機系受試者表現得好;因此,研習科目不同,將導致心像旋轉能力有差異,研究發現,機械系的受試者空間概念較電機系的受試者優異。

ABSTRACT

  This study is adopted the Paper Folding Test (PFT) and 3D Rotating Combination Square to conduct the test of Mental Rotation (MR) ability in order to discover the spatial ability for students belonging to different departments have significant differences. In the experiments of this study, the E-Prime 2.0 is applied as the main measuring tool, and the SPSS 12.0 as the analytic tool for experimental data. The results showed that study objects from the department of mechanical engineering had better overall reaction than those students from the department of electrical engineering. As a result, different department majors will lead to a different result in the Mental Rotation (MR) ability. In addition, this study also discovered that study objects from the mechanical engineering department had better spatial concept than whom from the department of electrical engineering.
